For Parents of Preschoolers:

Preschoolers! Those small people with big emotions! It can be a shock to parents to see what kids can do when their frustration gets the better of them, leading them to tantrums, hitting, biting or kicking. Parents also wonder how best to handle eating, sleeping and toilet-training issues.

PD classes teach parents the skill of listening, the value of a kind and firm response to dramatic behavior, how to involve small children usefully in family life, and how to nurture children’s budding need to do things for themselves.

For Parents of School-Age Kids

Kids aged 6 to 12 are often in a delightful phase of being connected with their parents. This can be a great time to set the tone for family life. PD is useful for learning how to listen deeply, let go of criticism and deal with everyone’s feelings. Parents learn the importance of regular family meetings, and how to develop and run them.

For Parents of Teens

With teens, what looks like rebellion is often necessary “work” kids are doing to become adults. Parents worry about teen sexuality, power struggles, time spent on social media and setting appropriate limits. PD teaches joint problem-solving and how to follow through effectively. Parents learn to let go of control and to play a “co-piloting” role instead of a “policing” one.
